About me

My name is Rosa Ortega, and I am extremely excited to be your child's teacher ! This will be my 4th year teaching at Young Scholars of Central PA  I graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education with a concentration in Mathematics and Spanish in 2020. In  August of 2020, I moved from Yonkers, New York to State College, Pennsylvania and joined the YSCP team. I have been a second grade, Spanish teacher, fifth grade teacher and now a fourth grade teacher.

As part of the two programs, Today's Students Tomorrow's Teachers and HerHonor, I gained many opportunities to share my passion for teaching and working with children of all ages. I have worked with C3 Kids, a remote Academic Summer School Program and a Title I teacher through Learn It Systems. I am also the Assistant Director of the U7/8 and U5/6 League in Centre Soccer Association. This year, I also started as the SWPBIS Chair at Young Scholars.

I come from a big family, all of which live in NY, CA, and Mexico. Along with teaching, I most enjoy spending time with my family, outdoor activities, reading, playing soccer, running and lifting weights.

I am looking forward to a year of learning and exploring with a fun and energetic 4th grade class!
